Summary:
As an Ohio CAT Technician Development Academy Intern, you will learn to perform duties relating to heavy off road equipment and/or engine service and repair through a PAID 11-week program (5-weeks instructor-led classroom/lab, 1-week on-the-job training at sponsored shop, 5-weeks instructor-led classroom/lab), with a total of 400 hours of training.
Technical Training classes will be attended for the duration of the program at the Ohio Machinery Co.
Technical Training Center in Columbus.
When necessary, Ohio CAT will provide housing accommodations for the intern.
The TDA Intern will acquire knowledge of:
Accurately completing service reports Use of Service Information System (SIS) Theories and applications of electrical and electronic systems.
Basic wiring and hydraulic schematics.
Diesel engine theory and repair.
COMPETENCIES:

Follow safe working practices / procedures.
Maintain a clean and organized work area.
Maintains personnel time cards.

Locate and use service literature and/or technical information.
Use hand and power tools.
Clean mechanical parts and components.
Transport components, parts, and equipment as directed around the facility.
Learn to use Service Information System (SIS) and Electronic Technician (ET) Learn to use parts ordering system.
Performing other related tasks and activities as directed by supervisor.
Keep up to date with developments in tooling, technologies and systems.
JOB
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Graduation from an accredited technical school with emphasis on diesel engine or earthmoving repair will be preferred, though not required.
Strong mechanical aptitude, along with a strong work ethic with attention to detail.
Basic Computer Operation and Application Skills Must demonstrate good customer service skills.
Organizational skills with the ability to manage time based on daily requirements.
Must be reliable and punctual to work.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lifting/Carrying 40 lb.
Lift/Carry and 50lb pulling Standing/Sitting Up and down stairs, standing, sitting and climbing into machines Dexterity Normal Repetitive Motions Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists and fingers.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
