Intern Work Instructions/Methods Technician

To increase plant flexibility and productivity, Altronic requires clear work instructions for current and new operators who test or assemble products. At present, a methods technician and the department's interns are developing new work instructions, a task that involves reviewing the assembly and/or testing processes with engineers and operators to precisely document each step. To develop this concept further, Altronic is pursuing a paperless work-instruction pilot project that uses a software-based solution. The individual hired for this internship will gather data on assemblies, assembly and testing processes and procedures, and industry software solutions. He or she will assist in the implementation of the pilot project and modify and/or create new assembly work-instruction procedures. The intern will also prepare reports and present results to management as well as procure any necessary supplies using SAP purchase requisitions. Altronic has very wide range of products that differ from one another. Whether it is assembly, testing, or more, each assembly (even if slightly similar) can be fairly different in each of these aspects. In order to assist operators to test or assemble these various products, clear work instructions are very important. In addition, clear work instructions assist current operators and also the flexibility to easily train new operators to increase overall flexibility and productivity within the plant. Currently a methods technician, along with current interns, work on new work instructions in the plant. This consists of walking through the assembly and/or testing processes with the engineer(s) and also the operator(s) and precisely documenting each step in the process. In order to take this concept a step further, we are pursuing a paperless work instruction pilot project to kick off using a software based solution that will eliminate the need for paper, improve accuracy of the work instructions in real time, link with SAP to calculate productivity of the employees, and more.
