Intern Setup time reduction

The individual hired for this internship will contribute to a continuing machine-shop project that focuses on reducing overall machine setup time by cataloging the tools used for this. Having access to a complete database of tools and their offsets to electronically program equipment during job start-up would eliminate having to manually define offsets. In this position, the intern will input current data into newly formatted setup sheets for various machined products, thereby replacing outdated information and an old format. This task includes working with Microsoft Word and software applications for tool presetter equipment. Other responsibilities include gathering data on assemblies, tool manufacturers, and setup procedures as well as analyzing data. The intern will also prepare reports and present results to management and procure any necessary supplies using SAP purchase requisitions.
